| Meet the teachers: Marjut Vahtola owns and operates the studio. Marjut took her first yoga class in 1995 after studying tai chi for many years. The class changed her path as she experienced deep relaxation and was completely hooked on yoga. She received her teacher's training certificate in 2000 from Mount Madonna in California. She has also studied with Donna Farhi who inspired her to expand her yoga beyond the mechanics of physical exercise to an enriching and complete life practice. Marjut is currently a student of Maharishi Krishnananda Ishaya in order to further her experience of meditation and consciousness. She also has an extensive background in energy healing modalities such as healing touch, reiki, and therapeutic touch. Marjut teaches a classic blend of yoga from the teachings of Classical Yoga/Raja Yoga with Patanjali's Yoga Sutras as the foundation. Her focus has been primarily on the Kripalu and Sivananda styles of Hatha yoga. Over the past 2 years Paula has formally studied yoga as a philosophy, began her teacher training at the Institute of Yoga Therapy and Natural Medicine in Toronto, and began practicing Kundalini yoga. She has now completed her teacher training in both Hatha and Kundalini yoga. For more information on Kundalini Yoga please go to www.3ho.org Paula has worked as an Early Childhood Educator for the past 20 years and enjoys applying her new knowledge in working with children. Nancy Hall has recently returned to Thunder Bay! She will be teaching yoga at Resting Frog and communities along the north shore. She has studied a variety of yoga styles and teaches her own unique blend suited for all levels and abilities. Nancy's background is in the healing arts and she offers appointments for Reflexology, Therapeutic Touch and Healing Touch. Welcome back. Susan Cole received yoga teacher certification in 2002 at the Lotus Centre in London, Ontario. This training emphasized individual growth and practice - adapting poses to the individual rather than an individual to the pose. Hatha yoga, the practice of poses or asana, is enriched by pranayama (breathing technique), mindful meditation, and an awareness of energy flow. Most recently, she has studied with Judith Hanson Lasater (Restorative), Todd Norian (Anusara) and Monica Voss (Esther Myers studio). |
