| Meet the teachers: Mayama (Marjut Vahtola) owns and operates the studio. Mayama took her first yoga class in 1995 after studying tai chi for many years. The class changed her path as she experienced deep relaxation and was completely hooked on yoga. She received her teacher's training certificate in 2000 from Mount Madonna in California. She has also studied with Donna Farhi who inspired her to expand her yoga beyond the mechanics of physical exercise to an enriching and complete life practice. Mayama teaches a classic blend of yoga from the teachings of Classical Yoga/Raja Yoga with Patanjali's Yoga Sutras as the foundation. Mayama has an extensive background in energy healing modalities such as healing touch, therapeutic touch, reiki, and quantum touch. She offers private appointments for energy healing and all aspects of yoga including relaxation, postures, breathing, and inward journeying. Mayama is currently a student of Maharishi Krishnananda Ishaya and is a teacher of the Ishayas' Ascension. Ascension means to "rise beyond". It is a series of simple, profoundly effective meditation techniques that allow one to rise beyond stress and self-defeating beliefs.
